TD Tree Days kicks off milestone year with planting of 300,000th tree

Since 2010, TD Tree Days has helped to build healthy and vibrant communities by facilitating the planting of over 285,000 native trees and shrubs across the country. This year, TD Tree Days is joining the TD Common Ground Project to help green community parks and green spaces. From September 15 to October 28, 2017, TD will bring people together for 156 planting events, as thousands of volunteers will add more than 40,000 trees and shrubs to Canadian green spaces.

This year, TD marks the milestone planting of our 300,000th tree, which took place this past weekend on September 16th at Brookside Park in London, Ontario. London was selected as the location to plant the 300,000th tree because of TD’s long history in the community. Since 2010, with the help of over 1500 volunteers, the London community has added more than 12,500 native trees and shrubs to the local tree canopy. By the end of this fall over 250 community volunteers would've planted another 1,300 trees and shrubs in the London area, with 1,200 trees and shrubs in Brookside Park alone.

TD Tree Days is a program of TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF), which provides funding to help sustain an incredible array of grassroots environmental programs in Canada. Since 1990, TD FEF has supported over 25,000 projects with over $85 million in funding, from outdoor classrooms and environmental education programs to pollinator and community gardens.
