Tech Jam focuses on digital innovations for "real life"
More than 100 employees from over 30 areas of the bank took part in the second ThinkDigital Tech Jam event in Toronto. Tech Jam is a hackathon, minus the technical coding requirement, that brings colleagues together from across TD to develop innovative concepts for digital and mobile solutions. These solutions are all geared towards enriching the lives of TD customers and employees. The events are non-technical by design - a strategy that promotes inclusion, innovation and participation throughout the bank.
"Our employees are a source of so much talent and innovative thinking," said Andreea Natapov, Senior Manager, Digital Fluency and creator of TD's ThinkDigital Tech Jam. "Employees take their own mobile experiences and then innovate and ideate from the perspective of a customer – they are all asking themselves, what kinds of digital experiences would make my life easier?"
"Tech Jam acknowledges – in a very real way – how everyone plays an important role in helping to bring TD's digital innovation story to life," said Franklin Garrigues, VP, Mobile for Everyone, Digital Channels. "In fact, two ideas generated from our first Tech Jam are currently in production and we are very excited to see them develop into solutions we can apply directly to our business."
The event gave participants the opportunity to take on new roles and showcase their skills in a whole new way. One employee who is a marketer by day became an "idea generator" – there were also "digital artists," "developers," and "business experts" who all worked together to come up with ideas that focus on offering customers practical, personalized financial advice.
