TD invests $100,000 to support development of the Okanagan Rail Trail in BC
The Okanagan Rail Trail in B.C. is getting closer to completion thanks to a $100,000 investment by TD. The trail will be one of more than 150 initiatives supported through the year-long TD Common Ground effort to build, rejuvenate and bring vibrancy to parks and green spaces across Canada in recognition of Canada's 150th anniversary.
TD’s contribution to the project will help support the trail development, which when completed will be a 48.5-kilometre multi-use trail that will cross various local communities such as the City of Kelowna, the District of Lake Country, the Okanagan Indian Band and the North Okanagan Regional District. The trail is expected to benefit more than 200,000 residents in the area and is expected to enhance tourism, promote healthy living, connect families with nature and provide opportunities for users to learn more about the Syilx (Okanagan) people and their traditional territory.
TD will be supporting over 150 initiatives across the country that will rejuvenate and bring vibrancy to parks and green spaces across Canada. Each project is designed with the goal of bringing people together, helping contribute to livable and healthy cities and improving the quality of life for communities in a lasting way.
For over 25 years, TD has been committed to revitalizing and enriching green spaces across the country. Our support of over 25,000 environmental projects to planting over 280,000 trees, our Friends of the Environment Foundation as well as the TD Forests initiative, demonstrates our commitment to driving environmental and community leadership.
